Two Brighton men were members of a gang of five drug dealers who were jailed today by a judge at Hove Crown Court.
Between the five men were sentenced to more than 16 years behind bars.
Gary McCarten, 21, of Ravenswood Drive, Woodingdean, was jailed for 44 months and Tyler Boarer, 18, of Downash Close, Whitehawk, was jailed for 36 months.
Three other men, all from Liverpool, were sentenced to 44 months in prison each. They are Kirk Blake, 21, and Kevin Tynan, 32, both of Ermine Crescent, Liverpool, and Gary Corness, 24, of St Cuthman’s Close, Liverpool.
The five were arrested in April for supplying heroin in the Stanley Road area of Brighton after a six-week police operation tracking their movements.
They pleaded guilty at a hearing at Hove Crown Court last month.
Detective Constable Mark Pinder, from Brighton’s Divisional Intelligence Unit, said: “Operation Reduction has targeted drug dealing in Brighton and Hove for the last five years.
“These particular individuals based in Whitehawk worked as an organised network supplying Class A drugs in the early part of 2010.
“With all the offenders receiving custodial sentences this demonstrates that drug dealing in Brighton and Hove will not be tolerated and that Sussex Police will do all they can to reduce the misery and suffering that these offences and criminals bring to our city.”
