Hove computer expert Roy Newell has died aged 82.
Newell, a founder member of the British Computer Society (BCS) in 1967, suffered a stroke in January.
He spent the past six months in hospital before being moved to a care home.
Last Saturday (24 July) he suffered a cardiac arrest and died.
His funeral will be held at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Norton Road, Hove, at 1pm on Wednesday, followed by a wake at the Cricketers pub in Eaton Road, Hove.
Oxford-educated Newell, of Hartington Villas, Hove, was also a founder member of the Sussex branch of the BCS in 1967.
He served continuously on its committee for more than 40 years.
The BCS Sussex branch committee said: “Roy will be sadly missed by everyone involved with our branch committee, both past and present.”
