An application to open an all-night off licence in St James’s Street has been withdrawn in the face of strong opposition from Kemp Town residents.
Tipple wanted to open at 30 St James’s Street and sell alcohol from 6am right through to 4am.
The plans prompted chair of the local action team Chris Cooke to lay down a challenge to Brighton and Hove City Council to uphold its restrictions on new licences within its city centre cumulative impact zone.
But before the committee was due to rule on the application, it has been withdrawn.
Mr Cooke said: “As an LAT we complained long and hard against against this development, and I’m really pleased that they have withdrawn the application”
