Two men have been arrested on suspicion of robbing an 11-year-old boy of the bike he was riding.
After their arrest officers from Sussex Police recovered seven bikes and a number of mobile phones and a handbag – all believed to have been stolen.
One of the men is alleged to have jumped on the boy as he rode along the dirt track to the west of the A293 Hangleton Link Road at about 9pm last night (Thursday 15 July).
He is alleged to have threatened the boy before taking the BMX, which belonged to a friend.
A police spokesman said: “Police responded immediately to the call and were able to recover the bike which had been taken in the robbery, together with a large quantity of other items.
“Inquiries are continuing to establish who these belong to and we hope to be able to reunite as much of the property as we can with their owners.
“Fortunately the 11-year-old victim was uninjured in this incident although understandably he was shaken by what happened.
“If anyone has any information or witnessed what happened we would ask them to contact police on 0845 6070999.”
Two 38-year-old men of no fixed address were in police custody.
