The motorcyclist killed in Brighton on Wednesday evening was a 39-year-old man from Burgess Hill called Jason Beech.
Mr Beech died at the scene after a crash in Ditchling Road, Brighton, south of the junction with Coldean Lane.
He was heading towards Brighton town centre on his Suzuki GSF 1200 when his motorbike and a silver Volkswagen Golf collided.
The 30-year-old man from Hove who was driving the Golf was unhurt.
Sussex Police would like to hear from anyone who saw the accident which happened at 8.15pm.
Witnesses should call 0845 6070999.
Police shut Ditchling Road between Old Boat Corner to Hollingbury Golf Club until 11.40pm while they investigated the crash.
