The new Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, Caroline Lucas, has tabled a parliamentary motion calling for help for a refugee charity.
Refugee and Migrant Justice faces closure today (Monday 14 June) after claiming that it had been pushed into financial problems by changes to the way that the government issues legal aid payments.
Dr Lucas’s early day motion said that charities like RMJ were struggling because they now had to wait until cases were completed to receive money.
But it said that their cases often took years and the financial burden became too much.
Seven MPs have so far backed the motion.
