The North Portslade Community Allotment is aiming to build a polytunnel in mid-June thanks to funding from a number of sources.
Can Do Health and the Brighton and Hove Food Partnership have given support while the allotment team have also received a Sport Relief Community Cash Grant.
The community allotment group is calling for volunteers to help them put up the polytunnel on Saturday 12 June and Sunday 13 June from 10.30am to about 3pm..
The organisers will be offering free refreshments and giving guided tours.
The community allotment occupies plots 57 and 58 at the Mile Oak allotments between Overdown Rise and Gorse Close.
It also runs a food co-operative, buying food from local farms and usually bought from the wholesaler or directly from the producers, and sold on at those prices to people in Portslade.
The next one is on June 8 – see its website for the price list.
