The Hove branch of Hamsey’s is to close.
The bedding store opened its Hove branch – in West Way, Hangleton – just two years ago where the Co-op used to be.
Simon Hunt, director of the 40-year-old chain, has written to residents throughout the area to let them know about the closure.
His letter also invited residents to the store’s closing down sale, which starts on Wednesday (26 May).
The site was left empty when the Co-op and Alldays merged. Alldays had a store just around the corner in The Parade, Hangleton Road. The old Alldays store was refurbished and re-opened with Co-op branding.
The old Co-op site was fitted out as two units offered for rent at about £20,000 a year each.
Hamsey’s took over one unit about two years ago before spreading to the neighbouring unit.
They are opposite The Grenadier pub and between the Mandarin Garden Chinese takeaway and Nick Pannett’s pet shop Pet Pet Pet.
