The story of Brighton’s rise from fishing village to popular resort is being shown on BBC One this evening – but thousands of viewers in the town will be unable to watch it.
The programme – part of the series A History Of The World – is called Brighton, The First Resort.
It is being broadcast by BBC South East at 7.30pm, fronted by Suggs – aka Graham McPherson – the Sussex-born lead singer of pop band Madness.
Many viewers in Brighton and Hove receive BBC South rather than BBC South East so will miss out.
And BBC South is showing a different programme from the same series, called King Alfred The Great?
The programme fronted by Suggs will look at the bathing machine, the piers, the influence of the Prince Regent, the Lambretta and seaside architecture.
This is crazy. The BBC can’t seem to work out whether it’s BBC South or South East covers the town – or both? I’m in Portslade receiving the King Alfred The Great programme via VIrgin Media. Has anyone asked the BBC to comment?
