A young child and her father were rescued from the sea off Brighton today.
The little girl was blown out to sea on an inflatable toy in the offshore wind.
The girl’s father swam out to help her just east of the Palace Pier but appeared to get into difficulty.
The RNLI Lifeboat was launched from Brighton Marina just after 1.40pm but a swimmer with a body board reached the father and daughter first.
The swimmer helped the pair back to the beach and just over five minutes after launching, the lifeboat crew stood down and returned to the Marina.
