A firm run by TV entrepreneur Martin Webb has begun renovating a Brighton pub.
The businessman, who featured in Channel 4’s Risking It All, is behind a revamp taking place at the Dyke Tavern, in Dyke Road, Brighton.
The work is being undertaken by his company Bar and Kitchen, based at the Royal Sovereign pub in Preston Street, Brighton.
The Dyke Tavern has been closed since December when its previous management Pubs’n’Bars went into administration.
Mr Webb became well known in the 1990s as he and his business partner Simon Kirby built the successful C-Side empire of pubs and nightspots in the city.
They sold them in 2001 for £14 million.
Among other new ventures he went on to open Britain’s first charity pub, the Robin Hood, in Little Western Street, Brighton.
Meanwhile, Mr Kirby is standing as the Conservative candidate to become MP for Brighton Kemptown.
Brighton and Hove City Council is currently considering a planning application by Mr Webb to extend the Dyke Tavern’s kitchen. A decision is expected by May 12.
The planning application can be viewed here.
