A Brighton councillor who is hoping to become an MP in Caerphilly has been accused of trying to pass herself off as a local to Welsh voters.
Maria Caulfield’s leaflets say she lives in Gelligaer, a town in the heart of the constituency – and she has told the BBC she has spent 60 per cent of her time there since being selected in Christmas.
But others say that as she is also Brighton and Hove City Council’s cabinet member for housing, she can’t be able to spend too much time there.
Her Labour rival Wayne David said: “Her website in Brighton says she lives in Brighton and that she’s accessible to all in Brighton – how can she be in two places at once?”
