A convoy bearing a round of the UK’s finest asparagus will travel to Brighton on Friday.
The Great English Asparagus Run will start with 100 rounds of asparagus spears from the first pick of the season being blessed by Worcestershire’s Lord Lieutenant Michael Brinton.
They will then be taken by a convoy of Morgan cars to Brighton to be presented by the VisitEngland chairman, Lady Cobham.
The run marks the start of the British Asparagus Festival, which runs until June 21 in the Vale of Evesham.
The Evesham Dogs Trust has named an eight-week-old spaniel/boxer cross puppy Gus in honour of the event.
