A hunt has been launched for an arsonist who torched a flat in Trafalgar Road, Portslade, causing a blaze which completely gutted it.
The top floor flat at the junction of Bampfield Street caught fire between 12.30am and 12.50am on Tuesday. Fire investigators have now established it was deliberately set using an accelerant.
Fortunately, nobody was in the flat at the time, but the occupants of the connected flats and house were put in danger, although all were evacuated safely and without injury.
Police are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the fire, or who knows who may be responsible.
