Whitehawk’s Wellsbourne Health Centre officially opens today.
The centre in Whitehawk Way will be the new home for doctors from Broadway Surgery and Whitehawk Medical Practice.
Other NHS services currently based at Whitehawk Clinic will move into its top floor, and there is also a pharmacy.
NHS Brighton and Hove chairman Alan McCarthy said: “As well as being environmentally friendly, the new centre provides a spacious environment and high quality facilities that will enable health professionals to offer a wider range of health services than are currently available in Whitehawk.”
The surgery will form part of a £7.4 million community complex which will include a new library and see Whitehawk Primary School and The Roundabout Children’s Centre extended.
However, the plans could also lead to the closure of the Crew Club youth centre which runs out of funding in November.
