An unlicensed van driver has admitted causing the death of a 44-year-old moped rider from Portslade.
Delshad Ajeeb Aziz, 26, pleaded guilty at Hove Crown Court yesterday to a charge of causing death by careless driving.
He crashed into Anthony David Edney, of Thornhill Way, Portslade, in June last year in Old Shoreham Road, Hove, at the junction with The Drive.
Mr Edney was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton where he died.
Aziz, of New Road East, Northam, Portsmouth, also admitted driving without a licence and insurance.
He is due to be sentenced on Monday 12 April.
PC Andy Slark, a Sussex Police forensic collision investigator based in Shoreham, investigated the crash.
He said: “Once again a life has been lost as a result of a lack of concentration.
“Mr Edney was simply travelling on the road when the offender pulled out into his path, causing a head-on collision.
“This was a tragedy which could so easily have been avoided.”
