A man was today charged with manslaughter over the death of a clubber who died after a fight at the Ocean Rooms on New Year’s Day.
Chancey Cummings, 25, had been charged with assaulting Ricky Brown, 25, of Arnold Street, Brighton, at the club.
But the day after he first appeared before Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 4, Mr Brown died of the serious head injuries he sustained in the fight.
Police are now issuing a fresh appeal for witnesses to the fight and the events leading up to it.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Johns said: “Anyone who was there and has not already been seen by us is asked to come forward, even if they feel they have nothing to contribute.”
Cummings, of no fixed address, appeared today via video link and was remanded in custody at Lewes Crown Court on February 19,
After the fight, the Ocean Rooms’ licence was suspended by Brighton and Hove Council and last week it was put up for auction at a guide price of £750,000.
