A 15 week old puppy was dumped in a rucksack at council offices – but has already been found a new home.
Animal welfare officers who discovered the cute dog as they arrived for work at Bartholemew House in Bartholemew Square, Brighton, believe he was probably an unwanted Christmas present.
Officer Maggi Hollands, pictured with the pup, said: ““Apart from being cold and frightened, he’s in good health. He’s far too young to go into kennels, so we’ve been caring for him since he arrived.
“He’s a lovely pointer/Labrador cross and it’s hard to understand why anyone would want to abandon him like this. It looks like a classic case of buying a puppy for Christmas and not thinking it through.
“We would urge anyone in a similar position to come and talk us and not just abandon their pet.”
