Commuters are being forced to take the long way back to Brighton tonight after a lorry overturned and shed its load on the M23, closing it just in time for rush hour.
The motorway is still closed now, and the Highways Agency say it is not likely to open before 11pm.
The accident happened at about 3.20pm on the southbound carriageway between junction 8 and junction 9. The lorry’s load of breeze blocks spilled onto the road and at 4.50pm the M23 southbound was fully closed from the M25.
