Members of the Brighton and Hove (Actually) Gay Men’s Chorus took a starring role in the TV quiz Only Connect last night.
Pianist and composer Peter Lawson, graphic designer Anthony Pritchard and antiques dealer Guy Painton, with the team name Choir Boys, battled against postgraduate students of Brasenose College, Oxford in the BBC Four quiz.
And in what host Victoria Coren described as a “nail-biting finish,” they only narrowly missed out on going through to the next road, scoring 14 points to the Brasenose Postgrads’ 15.
Asked by Miss Coren whether they whether they performed church or “heathen” music, Anthony Pritchard said: “Heathen music and sacred music as well but we’re not a church choir, although we do sing in a lovely old church and perform and rehearse there.
“Our music is crossover – which isn’t the way we dress, as some people think – it covers classic, modern, allsorts.”
