Brighton commuters are enduring massive delays tonight after a man reportedly chased a dog along the railway tracks at Haywards Heath.
Southern Railway, First Capital Connect and Gatwick Express services are all either being delayed or cancelled as a result of the incident.
National Rail Enquiries reports the problem is being made worse by a signalling problem and that journeys may be delayed by up to 45 minutes.
It adds: “Only trains travelling from Gatwick Airport towards Haywards Heath are currently being affected.”
Passengers on some of the trains affected have reacted with disbelief at the news.
Moira Miller from Brighton tweeted: “Stuck outside haywards heath on @firstcc train cos a man is chasing his dog down the track!”
And Lisa Matthews, also from Brighton, tweeted: “Best #FirstCapitalConnect excuse to date: train is delayed, no, terminated, there’s a man on the track chasing a dog.”
