Police arrested two teenage boys in Woodingdean after officers recovered a car stolen in Brighton at lunchtime today.
The boys, aged 13 and 16, are both from Brighton and are being held in custody.
The car, a Ford Mondeo, was taken from Hartington Road, Brighton, just before 1pm.
Sussex Police said: “Police were swiftly alerted and followed the vehicle at a safe distance as active pursuit was deemed too dangerous for all road users.
“With the assistance of Surrey Police helicopter, as the Sussex Police helicopter was otherwise committed, the car was spotted being abandoned in Farm Hill, Woodingdean, within 20 minutes, and a police search resulted in the two arrests nearby.
“There were no injuries and no reports of damage.”
