A crash in Woodingdean at about 6am has been blamed for making the rush hour even worse than usual.
Debris was strewn along a stretch of the road near the Nuffield Hospital.
Sussex Police said: “At 6am on Tuesday (15 January) a van collided with a parked mobile home in Warren Road, Woodingdean, between its junctions with Channel View Road and Seaview Road.
“No injuries were reported but debris had to be cleared from the scene and damaged vehicles recovered.
“Warren Road was closed and temporary diversions put in place until 6.50am.”
Longer queues than usual we’re still being reported at 8.30am.
Meanwhile, drivers along Old Shoreham Road, Hove, went back to the future with many queuing for more than half an hour.
For some, it was reminiscent of the days before the A27 Brighton bypass opened.
The hold ups were caused by four-way temporary traffic lights at the Sackville Road and Nevill Road crossroad.
Twelve weeks of roadworks have started and long tailbacks were reported in all directions.
Took me 1 hour to get from Valley drive to st Joseph’s business park on Old Shoreham Road this morning! Absolutely disgraceful! BHCC need to very quickly work out a better way of keeping the traffic flowing over the next 12 weeks or businesses will suffer very badly!
