A 14-year-old boy from Brighton, who was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his stomach, has admitted making up a story about being attacked.
The lad suffered the wound while messing around with a knife in a play fight with a friend in Kemp Town. He accidentally stabbed himself.
Sussex Police said today (Saturday 26 March): “A teenage boy who reported to police that he was stabbed while walking in Bloomsbury Place, Brighton, on (Monday) 14 March has since admitted he made it up.
“The 14-year-old was in possession of a knife and stabbed himself accidentally while play fighting with his friend.
“Originally he claimed a man had approached him and stabbed him in the stomach.”
Detective Sergeant Chris Lane said: “We were appealing for witnesses to the attack and the incident caused some concern in the community at the time. The boy will now be dealt with for wasting police time.”
What a very stupid thing to do wasting g police time and worrying not only his family and friends but for the poor residents where it happened I really hope he is punished and given a punishment that will make him realise
