A man has been charged with driving offences after he allegedly failed to stop for police in Moulsecoomb, Brighton, on Sunday (20 March).
Ben Clark, 19 of Birdham Road, Brighton, has been charged with failing to stop for a police officer, failing to comply with a red traffic signal, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He has been bailed to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 4 April.
Police spotted a Ford Ka at 4.25pm being driven along Lewes Road by a driver who they suspected of having no insurance or licence. When they signalled for the car to stop, it failed to do so and after a short pursuit the car stopped in Birdham Road and the driver and passenger made off. They were arrested nearby.
An 18-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was detained on suspicion of allowing a car to be used without insurance and resisting arrest and a 40-year-old Brighton woman was arrested for assaulting an officer. They were both later released without charge.
