Travellers are to be moved on from another Brighton landmark after police intervention today (Wednesday 2 July).
A group of about 40 vehicles was ordered to leave Withdean Park yesterday after a legal notice – known as a section 61 notice – was served on the unauthorised encampment.
Some of the group were moved off Patcham Peace Gardens, off London Road, Brighton, and about 30 trailers are currently camped on Waterhall playing fields in Waterhall Road.
After visits from Brighton and Hove City Council officials and police officers, a further section 61 notice has been served on the group before a football tournament planned at the site this weekend.
Brighton and Hove councillors have been told that the situation is being monitored daily.
